How are you enjoying the warm weather?

I went to a PTO (parent teacher organization) show in Atlanta the past Tuesday. I talked with dozens of PTO leaders from all over the area, and heard about their challenges. Whereas in Cambridge we have schools of 2-400, their schools are 600-1000! And many run a lot more events, often even hosted at local businesses. But we still share a lot of the same problem with reaching out to all the families, getting folks to come out to events, fundraise, and volunteer for e.g. room parents. :)

Good news is as the Room Parent Coordinator this year, I worked with the Family Liaison at our school, and now have a room parent for every class, sometimes 2-3! If your kids go to my school and don't know yet who's your room parent, check here! We'll have an orientation next week for all the room parents, so expect to hear from them soon if you haven't already.

Last weekend we very much enjoyed seeing friends at the Upton Street Block Party, and there was another block party two blocks away. We saw a couple of School Committee candidates there too.

We also went to the dumpling fest. but the line was SO LONG and it was hot so we gave up. :( It looked like a fun event and it was a good intro to the Central Flea, which will happen again at the end of October.

A remember there's a Cub Scout info session later today, and apparently the Cambridge one is co-ed! I haven't been to the instrument petting zoo before at the Beantown Jazz Festival, but I did go to one last time at the symphony hall, and my kids really enjoyed trying out the different instrument. :)
