Parents' New Year's Resolutions, & Birthday Parties

Hope everyone had a good start to the new year!

Your New Year's Resolutions

As you know, I've been asking for new year's resolutions. Seems most parents are focused on being healthier in the new year:

  • Exercise more
  • Eat healthier (including less sugar, not overeating, or cook more.)

I've worked on exercising more last year and now run over the weekend, 2-3 miles with a couple of moms. If you're around Cambridgeport and want to join us on Sunday mornings, let me know! :)

And Kristin, one of the MLK moms, is collecting easy-to-do recipes for healthier home cooking. Let me know if you're interested and I'll connect you.

Another theme I've been hearing about

  • Communicating better with spouse.

My take: we have finite patience and our kids used up most of it. ;-) Still, having time just for you and spouse can help a lot. See a couple of date night idea below.

And on parenting specifically I heard from moms specifically

  • Police less and have more fun with kids
  • Getting kids to do homework

What are your strategies on those? Let's share and help each other out.

App/site Update

Birthday Parties list is out! Please add some reviews for which venues you like. https://yana.com/classes?zip=02139&category=party&limit=20

Less chat, more help in the app - I'm thinking of moving on from group chat as many parents are busy. Instead, focus on asking each other for help or sharing, whether at the class, school, or neighborhood level. More details next week.

Remind me to add finding babysitters to my list of topics. ;-)

Have fun!
